I've taken off part of the boxing that surrounds the soil stack. This is mainly so I can peer down into the boxing behind the cistern to see how (or whether) I can rotate the stack in order to fit the new corner toilet. It looks like I can so hopefully no worries there. You can see several cables there. The big one is for the cooker circuit. I have no idea what the others are, or why they are wrapped around the stack like that. Hopefully I can use them for the shaver points and the LV down lights (although I shouldn't really). A new 10mm cable will run up through this space for the new shower. I have an electrician making the connections, but I'm running the cable myself. It shouldn't be too hard as the fuse box is almost directly below in the garage.
